Seems to have a few good

Seems to have a few good reviews on amazon....
for $50 be sure you're buying the actual unit, not an accessory for it....seems they are more in the $170 - $200 pricerange unless you found a smokin deal on one.

I like the concept of that

I like the concept of that sawhorse. I have some metal sawhorses a local fabricator built. I might put some pipe clamps on them to get the same effect.

edit. Chad, the link you posted first says the price is one payment of $177.76 or 4 payments of $44.44. I imagine there is a hefty shipping and handling fee added later as well, though I did not look further into the site than that.

The best way to go is take

The best way to go is take the courses offered at a local technical college. I took every course they offered- MIG, TIG, stick, and oxyacetylene. MIG is easiest, but has its limitations... as does every welding process. When I get home tonight I'll send you some links that might help you get started. If you plan on fabricating anything long term, stay away from cheap welders. You'll be better off in the long run getting a low end hobart, lincoln, miller or similar name brand machine.

cheap welders

"greenthumb is right. I started with a cheap mig Offbrand buzzbox. Not capable of advertized duty cycle at all. Now I have a 220 hobart, it works great.
