Any UK members who have built inthe UK?

Hi,

I'm currently researching building a log home in the UK (England) and wondered whether any of the members are from the UK and have successfully built?

Does anyone know if which/any of the indigenous tree species in the UK would be best to build with? I'm thinking cost and carbon footprint (or would I need to import?).

Any help and this stage greatly appreciated. And yes, before you all ask I'll be looking into booking onto one of the classes :)
