I don't know about such a website, Klapton but here in Missouri there is a very low level of gov't intrusion. Property taxes are low, many counties don't even have building inspectors. In most of the area around where I live all you need is to pass the septic inspection. In Camden county near the lake you don't need an inspection for a CO if you are building on 5+ acres which is considered a farm. If you want to build right ON the lake you have to jump through many hoops and follow many restrictions because Ameren UE has control of the lake and they set the restrictions for new construction, docks, septic, electric, etc. Away from the lake and away from town and it is pretty much wide open. Now, if you want to build to sell, you have to have it inspected by a licensed inspector at your expense. If you build to live in it, many counties say that if it falls down on your head, so be it. There is a lot of farming activity around here with many Mennonites and a few Amish and I don't see a lot of intrusion into their activities. We have farmers markets every weekend during the growing season as well as a lot of fruit and vegetable stands. Many people barter with each other. I'm liking it here more and more. There is a lot of law enforcement activity for pot and especially meth, which is fine by me. Meth is a real cancer on our society. The other strong Law Enforcement activity is for driving under the influence. I go through sobriety checkpoints several times a month, especially during tourist season. They will set up right by the Horny Toad and other large night clubs and wreak havoc on drunk drivers.
