Howdy,

It looks like late this summer I may get the time to start in on my cabin. I'd like to have a basement for a number of reasons - and I'm starting to research it. Are there any good articles, books or web resources? I'm thinking about doing it myself and remember someone telling me about insulated block.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated. Thanks,

Phil Savoie

Block basement

Phil,

members who have taken the class have built using several foundation methods. In the member's section we have discussed poured walls, block walls with mortar, block walls dry stacked, superior walls (and other prefab brands), and Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF's) as different ways to build a full basement.

They all have their pro's and con's. My recommendation would be to do a google search on these different types and research the methods versus costs and decide which is best for your situation.
