These are the ones i have:
~ Your Low-Tax Dream House
~ Log Home Construction Manual
~Build You Own Low-Cost Log Home
~Foundations and Concrete Work
~Be Your Own House Contractor

I was wondering if there are any other books that would be useful?
I want books on plumbing and wiring, but are there any that pertain to log homes only or no? Is the wiring and plumbing a large difference between log homes and stick homes?
Thank you!

the class

covers all aspects of building with logs. However, you'll find that they don't teach you everything you need to build a house (that my wife would live in). They don't cover HVAC , plumbing, electrical, home entertainment, etc. very deeply. You should have some info on these. I think Rick Buchanan has a favorite book line, but I plan to use very simple design that even I can't mess up. Also, you don't "need" any info that you don't have already (about nails, wood, etc).

books

After I'd signed up for class, in the weeks of waiting before that weekend I was very antzy! I bought every book I could find on log cabin building. turns out, PRECIOUS little was helpful, because none of them really talked about butt and pass log homes. yeah there was some good stuff about types of logs, span tables, etc but most of it was about how to notch....
I'd be happy to mail you my collection. need the shelf space:) let me know if you're interested.

its good to know the basics of plumbing and electrical The class will tell you what specifics need to be addressed in a BnP home

one of the interesting books I found was a beginners book on masonry and stone work. gonna make a lovely hearth with (free) field stone. might use it on the outside of the walkout basement too. who knows:)

If you stop buying these or similar books after you finish your home I'd be surprised. There is a never ending list that you will add to along the way. Excited for you.

I also recomend a good book on framing. Sunnset, "basic Framing" is a good one to start off with. It seems to be geared more towards the novice.Stu http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u64/hemlock77/
