Yep--that's right--I'm a certified Log Home Builder--and I have the ID Card to prove it! :)
After years of screwing around with an interior floor plan and a conventional stick-built design, 10 minutes with the wife using a 40x40 square layout on Punch software LOCKED IN A WIFE-APPROVED LAYOUT!!! No kidding. Here's my initial (wife-approved) floor plan. Everyone, please DO comment with your suggestions and advice about changes/revisions I should make to this! Here's a screen print of the 3 floors (attached).

It looks like a nice sized kitchen, with good flow from kitchen to dining to living spaces.
Looking at the stairs, though, how do you get from the second floor to the third? I don't see a landing for it.
The labels don't render clearly on my computer -- is the lower right of the first floor called the media room?

Hey Logguy!
Are you happy with the Punch software? What did it cost you and where did you buy it? Can you really end up with a complete set of plans with it?

Yep--I don't have a solution for the second floor staircase except for maybe a spiral staircase from the second floor loft.
Yep--it's a media room.

The Punch software I have is an older version, I think. I don't see a way to export or save as an autocad format like they talked about in class.
I bought it because it was most highly recommended by users. It is pretty complex and I think that in order to complete a project fully (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc) it would take months of non-stop work screwing with it. That said, it probably IS the most user friendly! ;)
