Can fresh cut logs and framing lumber be used for immediate construction or should they be allowed to dry to a certain moisture content ? Also, what species of tree is best for a particular application?

"green" logs and framing lumber
Green logs can be used for the butt and pass method taught in the class by Ellsworth and Steve. Sawn lumber should be allowed to dry as much as possible (usually surface dry to 12% moisture) because you won't be using the same techniques for the framed portions of your house as you will the log portions.
