I'll be having 25 acres of 50 year old pines harvested off of my property in Social Circle, GA 35 miles east of Atlanta. This should be around the 3rd week of March. I can not make any promises that the harvester would be willing to deal with a log home builder but it never hurts to ask.
I'll be getting somewhere in the $40 per ton range. So I would imagine that the harveter will be getting at least twice or more as they have to pay for labor equipment etc.
If anyone is interested please let me know? Of course if your paying more than the mill will pay the harvester, he may be interested in doing business. Of couse if he is getting more, then I would like to get more. If someone can get prime house logs cheaper than the market price it's a win win win for everyone.
I hate to see these nice trees turned into plywood and OSB.
