There was a thread on here, a long time ago, about somebody building a homemade windmill. I never saw the finished product. I think it was Rod-what became of this project?

I believe Rod decided he needed to modify his windings for a higher output voltage. I suspect that the backhoe is taking a lot of his time now a days...

Yea, the project is on hold, but not dead. Actually, I've been kicking around alternate uses for the alternator. (hydro, wood-gas, listeroid)
