GRADUATES OF SKIP'S CLASS OFTEN VOLUNTEER TO PROVIDE "FREE LABOR" TO OTHER GRADUATES OF THE CLASS.*
In other words, our members tend to be very willing and enthusiastic about helping each other build their log homes.
THIS FREE LABOR IS REMINISCENT OF THE "LOG HOME RAISING" AND "LOG BARN RAISING" PARTIES THAT WERE ONCE AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR AMERICAN HERITAGE.
We hear that a some people have gotten their log homes built almost without ever touching a tool.
We also hear that people in wheel chairs have attended Skip's class – and they have ended up with beautiful log homes that were built with volunteer labor.
People generally volunteer their free labor for the following 4 reasons:
1. Many people attend the seminar when they are still quite young (attending high-school, college, etc. ?) and it is understood that they might not have property of their own for several years.
2. After graduating from the seminar, they want to start working on a log home immediately simply because it's fun to build log homes.
3. Graduates are almost always eager to try out their newly acquired knowledge.
4. Our members tend to be like minded about many issues and also share common goals; so they relate to each other in a positive manner and truly desire to help each other.
IMPORTANT NOTICE !!!
THERE ARE USUALLY MORE VOLUNTEERS (willing to provide free labor) THAN THERE ARE LOG HOMES FOR THEM TO WORK ON.
ELSEWHERE IN THIS WEBSITE, THERE IS MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF "FREE LABOR." WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CHECK IT OUT.
*The LHBA is a private, non-profit, educational Association. Only Association members may use the LHBA internet forum to make arrangements for sharing labor.
