So is there any way to contact another member from the forum, or am I missing it???
Currently there is no Private Messaging here. They say that the members section is not searchable by search enginges, and that it is safe to post email addresses there. Most people will still use some precaution against spam-bots, however, by fudging the name. For example email_name AT isp.com (replace the @ with a space, the word AT, and another space).
That still doesn't help the fact that you are still posting your email address where potentially hundreds or thousands of strangers can see it. This is a good community and all, but it sure would be nice if we had a PM system here.
Yo Kurt,
I don't know if you're trying to contact me or not, but if so, here's my email gamma_rae@hotmail.com

Hi all, I have seen the comment, "ping me offline." How does one do that if wishing to get in touch with another member?
For example, we would like to get in touch with southern Ca members ( LA area) for networking etc. Is there an easy way ? BTW...I have seen the members map ( very cool) but not everyone either knows about it or has registered.
thanks in advance.
Kim

More information can passed on by messenger and fast.
If its important it will be posted in a area and not missed out on the messenger.
It be cool we could all chat in a room and set up one for non members.
Chats rooms on subjects can be set up.
Ellsworth is this a idea you guys like ore dis like.
Is it a dis like becuse you feel it would let information would be missed out on messenger.
It be good to keep it in house for the club.
I never used it at work becuse it was counter productive.
I didnt want a customer ore client to know i was at my desk to bug me hahahahah
I had 4 messenger my home pc chating to people at work was last place i wanted to be.
Messenger was read by work place and nothing was private at work.
We can see when everone logs on now.
I do miss the email area becuse it cuts down on us BS on here.
I like to BS allot and feel bad to do it on the site were i used to just email the person.
Being on the internet for this club is one the best things it could do.
Computers are always the future.
Just my idea
Thanks Chad
Since we don't have a members list or database section like some forums or Yahoo groups, perhaps we could just start a thread in the members section where only those who are comfortable with it can post their email addresses (encrypted with "at" and spaces as needed to confound the scammers).
If the administrators are interested, perhaps they could add names alphabetically to a single post like they do for members meeting attendees. Or perhaps assign this task to someone...? I know they already to so much for us, I hate to add another task.
Watcha think?

Right now our priority is a working shopping cart. It'll be a normal SSL e-commerce cart, integrated into the current website. We hope to get that up within the next 2 weeks.
Once that is up we plan testing it by offering some embroidered Association Carhartt jackets and hats, and maybe joist hangers.
We're still working on PMs and other features.
The current web company we use couldn't make the PMs work. Once the cart is done we'll try a new company for the PMs. It's high on the list and we'll keep working on it till it's done.
For the time being people have been using the trading labor section to connect with local members. Like this Florida/Alabama thread. Or this Virginia thread. I'd stick with that for the time being. The right way to do it is to have PMs, and we'll have them eventually.

I'm a programmer. I would be willing to do some of this work on a volunteer basis. Feel free to contact me at MyUserName AT rcn.com if you are interested.
