Post a link or description to websites that you have found helpful in searching for raw land to build your log cabin on.

I have searched thousands of websites looking for tax forfiet/ foreclosure or private FSBO but have not gotten the information that I wanted.

If you have any websites that you found to be helpful or informative please share them with the rest of us.

THANKS!

free land? how much?

I would be interested to meet anyone who has received free land. Some of those Kansas links look promising. Although it could be true (maybe moreso years ago), I am quite leery about scam operations. But hey, ya never know.

Thanks for all the links GT!

looky here!! Is our Ellsworth giving away land?

free land

Kola i checked into this a few years back in a small town in Kansas it was on the up and up i called city hall to find out about it but the amount that they wanted me to spend on the home to build it and the amount i had to earn per year in order to get the land wasnt a realistic for me to meet but if you make big bucks you can have the free land which i find a bit funny if you make big bucks you wouldnt be looking for free land.

If you register for the Windermere website, you can set up email notifications of new properties and/or changes in prices. You set them up with specific search criteria (you can save your searches). They also have a "my favorites" feature that allows you to watch properties and add notes etc. I used the notes feature quite a bit to add county parcel numbers, links to county data etc. on properties I was looking at.

It's definitely the best designed real estate website I found.

Actually Hoping to Become a Member

Yeah, I am one of those poor people trapped in hand to mouth economics of today's society, and am trying desperately to save enough $ to afford to go out to Skips class and finally become a member. (always something happening that drains my savings like having to purchase new tires on my truck... $800 ouch!) BUT! until then I am not holding back my search for some cheap land and getting my facts in order!

So.. I have read a few others who frequent this site that are in the same position that I am. Thus this tread is for us who plan on attending the class and becoming members but have not done so yet, and are looking in our area for land prices and keeping track of what is out there and what the prices are like.

I currently live in Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I work as a residential carpenter. I am looking for land websites that can link me to finding my "far-out of the way" parcel, perferably in northern Minnesota Arrowhead region, or western Ontario. The further away from civilization the better!

If anybody reading this has any good info on certain land web sites that are hard to find, or obscure, or not well known by the general public.. please share.
I prefer something for Northern Minnesota, close to Canadian boarder.
I will post any that I find as well! Thanks!

Free Land in ELLSWORTH, Kansas!

http://www.kansasfreeland.com/

The Ellsworth linkie takes you here:

http://www.smokyhilldevelopmentcorp.com/WHP.html

Whaddya say, E? Wanna have your own town?

Here's an article about some people who moved to the town of Ellsworth for the free land: http://money.cnn.com/2004/12/22/real_estate/buying_selling/thursday_freeland/

The only thing that troubles me is that they want you to have "a signed agreement with a contractor within 6 monts." What about owner-builders?

Windermere

Windermere has a pretty good MLS search engine that covers Idaho. It's not going to give you anything that other MLS searches won't though. But it's a pretty good one anyway...
