Hey log people, www.homedepot.com has a Johnson laser level with tripod on sale for $19.98. Just got mine in the Saturday. Seems to be decent quality with a hard plastic case.

I just picked one up at the store for the same price. The reason for the drop in price is because they changed the new model to ping when level. That one is still just $30, but this was a steal at $20 for sure. The guy at the counter was blown away when it rung up. Too bad I grabbed the last one.

Hello,
Is a laser level a must have for building?
I have not attended the seminar yet, but would like to get a head start on purchasing tools that are necessary for when I am ready to build.
Thanks!

Hi, Nordic Princess--

Personally, we didn't happen to have one for the log part of the process, so we didn't use one. But the friend who helped us finish our roof and do all the interior floors and framing did own one, so we used it extensively on cutting windows and all the interior work.

Have you made specific plans to attend Skip's seminar yet? It's an awesome experience!!!!

Hi Sara,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it is too good of a deal to pass up.
I am planning on going to the seminar within the next year. My work schedule is pretty crazy these days, so it is really hard to leave on short notice. But I will get there!! I have spent hours on this site reading just about everything to learn as much as I can.
I'm one of those "what's a hammer?" people, so it should be interesting!
