Owners of small log homes often want to build a log addition. That's easy to do with the butt and pass method, as illustrated by this butt and pass addition that one of our students added to an existing saddle notch log home. In this case the addition is actually larger than the original structure, increasing the area inside the log home to almost 2000 square feet. There's also a stick framed addition at the front of the home.
