I'm surprised no-one on the forums has chimed in.

My family is looking into organics for profit. Locally, we have several farms and individuals that are producing organic products.

Until about five years ago we had 11 family owned dairies. Now there are three and two of them switched to organic methods which saved them from going under. One thing that helped in the transition is the fact that we have local bankers that specialize in loans to organic farmers (they have found that it is a more profitable endeavor than most status-quo agriculture).

We also have several gowers that produce organic vegetable in their "victory gardens" and sell to the local markets.
