Really, we can't say enough good things about these stairs, and the custom metal railings. Absolutely stunning.
Association member John Koenig donated his labor and some of the materials to build these stairs. His workmanship, as usual, is impeccable.
John and Pam meet on the river, where they both just happend to be fishing. They quickly became friends while talking about log homes, and John ended up marrying one of Pam's best friends :)

Yep, I met my friend Johnny at dark thirty a.m. on the river. The sun wasn't even up yet and we had a house built! (in our minds!) Johnny did an awesome job building this staircase, not to mention helping me get this design right, because the original had a hitch (or 5) ! I have featured some amazing art shows in this house. The stairrail was built by an artist that I know here on the island. He and I designed it, he built the skeleton here in the house, then oops, the logs that the valutes wrap around had to be taken out so that the railing could clear the girder running above! So he finished it at the shop, powdercoated it, and I knew it was finished when 4 trucks hauling 9 guys and my railing showed up in the driveway! It took all 9 of them to haul in the biggest piece and get the valutes over the logs, stand them up and get everything back in place. It's built of the heavy stuff, nothing dainty about it!
