I thought people might be interested in this article about rust reversal. I have used it and it works well. You simply need to brush/wipe the crap off of it after awhile. If the rust is really think it may take a few brushings but its easy work.

need water + baking soda [to help conduction]
battery charger and cables
big bucket
rebar [any chunk of steel will do]

Put the item in the bucket containing the water/soda mix. Attach the red [positve] to the rebar [steel] and the negative to the item to be cleaned. Turn on charger.
Enjoy the reaction.
Check every now and then and when you are happy with it - scrub and clean off.
