I will be driving solo from Western Colorado to Washington April 27 & 28 for the class on the 29th. Anyone along the way interested in joining me to share driving & expenses to and from? It's 1250 miles for me one way. I've registered and paid for the class and that's all at this time. Also, I would entertain sharing lodging & associated expenses while there if anyone's interested. I'm a former State Trooper, clean cut, non-smoker, no vices kind of a family man. Thanks in advance, Jess

Why do I get visions of

Why do I get visions of Planes, Trains & Automobiles in my head?

LOL, sorry. At least this comment will bump your thread to the recent comments list.

Camping Cabins next door to class

Wallace Falls State Park is literally "next door" to Wallace Falls Lodge where class is held. They have about 6 Cabins, and many tent sites. We attended the class in Dec and stayed in these cute cabins. No bathrooms in cabins but in the parking lot, No showers there either. Just wash up in the sink. It does have plenty of elelectrity. They have a futon, and bunk bed and also have 2 room cabins available. BYO sleeping bag. Cost was ~ $146.00 for 3 nights. Im sure tent camping would be much cheaper. Beautiful place to hike before you go to class! We had the best time. You can make reservations by googleing the Wallace Falls State park. Good Luck!

driving to class

check out plane tickets goggle cheap tickets and see what it would cost--that saves 2500 miles wear and tear on car and you! Don't forget to add the gas price in your back to back comparisons that is over 24 HOUR drive--you need to book almost 30 days in advance to save $$$ -share a car at airport-just some good advice--I drive to Wyoming from Calif. and its a hare over 1000 miles-quite a drive

Staying at Wallace Falls State Park

Thanks for your experienced suggestion. This sounds like the ideal solution for me so far. Late April should still be off-season for the camp ground, I would imagine, and not very busy? I'm confident, especially with your suggestion, this will all work out once I get there.

When I took my class in

When I took my class in April, and visited Wallace Falls State Park the Friday before the class, there was nobody camping at the time.

Camping @ Wallace Falls State Park

Thanks Rod for the confirmation on the abundant camping availability. Sounds like western Colorado ski resorts & towns after ski season and before summer season. You can stay anywhere you want, that is, if they have not closed for mud season vacation!

Come visit

Jessandminisa,
We are building on the east side of Rabbit Ears Pass about 30 miles east of Steamboat Springs. Come visit sometime. We plan on getting back up there starting in late May or early June.

Your log cabin @ Rabbit Ears Pass

In late May or early June, give us a bump to let us know what weekend(s) you'll be there. We enjoyed your photos and would enjoy coming up to see your progress first hand.

After the April class

Dean, you've got a deal. We hope this class will be one of the best investments of our lives as well. Thanks for the encouragement, we've got log cabin fever bad! Jess
