Log home PROBLEM
Tue, 2010-12-28 19:33 — mystorm72I have the top log cabin disaster story of all time. It all started with 3bdr 2bth for $12,500.00 wow cool I can do that. Well with the log cabin siding and the platform it came out to almost $20,000, so I put &10,000 cash down and would owe the balance without interest, (so I was told) then the 2 paragraph contract stated there was interest , but no rate, by the time I figured out the rate it was 37%! but that is not even the problem. The materials were horrible. Alot of damaged wood, old wood, slipped in. It was bad. Then the floor is not even 1/2 inch plywood and that is all that is the floor! The walls the nails are popping out and they leak in 3 different places, and when I call for repaire he hangs up in my face!
Where to buy plain old logs in Pennsylvania?
Sun, 2010-09-12 06:38 — BeautyHello,
I'm new to this organization. I would of loved to have taken the class if i would of found this site sooner! But i now have to wait il next time. In the mean time i have been taking such an interest in building a log cabin that i have been reserching all sorts of new interesting topics associated with log cabins and backwoods living. I have only one question at this time (atleast until i take the class and begin actually building a log home... My question is can anyone tell me where to "purchase" logs in Pennsylvania? Or at least close to here? I'm in Philadelphia and i have been googling forever and i can't seem to find any place that sells just plain logs for log homes. I have found places the sell milled logs (D-Logs) - but i would really like regular old logs. Any advice on where to look would be apreciated! Thanks in Advance:)

$75 Robotoolz lazer Seattle area
Thu, 2010-07-01 07:57 — ChainsawGrandpaIt's on Craig's List. This is the same model I use, and this guys price seems pretty good. Looks like it doesn't come with a tripod (that's ok, you're better off to buy a big (read: tall) Bogen photography tripod with a pan head. Get an adapter for the lazer to a 1/4" x 20 thread. Make your own story pole from a 3/16" x 2" x 96" piece of aluminum, and buy some framing square trammels. Boom, you're in business for about $125, and much better than the factory tripod and story pole. BTW...the big (used) Bogen will reach to 8', and with an extension pole (1 1/4" EMT conduit, 1/4" x 20 bolt, and 1/4" x 20 long nut & some JB weld) you can safely go up to 12' tall. Buy a twin step (the singles are too flimsy and will bend) fiberglass 6' step ladder. They are about $85 new, but check Craig's list...you never know what you'll find there.
