Wow, just plain wow. That guy has it going on there! I really like the dining room area. Very quant and simple. Things like this have kept me going on the past several months as I have been fighting with trying to find land and dealing with building/safety people. It is nice to have some inspiration once in a while. A lot of times I look at the member's log homes and that pumps me up. This little cabin here is even better than my renovated RV. And twice the space. (=
build your temporary b&p log cabin to get some b&p building experience

This temporary cabin is easy to move to the new location, after your home is completed

This website is my favorite:

This is good info you've posted and it is really good to see you on the forums again! Any Tipi updates? Don't be a stranger! Mark
Howdy-doo Markus! I updated my situation on another thread. I will try to find it for you.
GT. I really love that first pic you posted of the lil loghome lean to. That would have been perfect for my situation huh? Regrets on my tipi decision? Can I say maybe? :)
Anyway I never look back at what I could have or should have done. I am too focused on looking FORWARD and into a brighter and happier future!!! :)
When you are always looking back you are bound to trip over something ahead of you and miss those golden opportunities!
still chuggin' and pluggin' and dreamin' and scheme-in'

My boeing server blocked access due to "virus content" of the link. dunno if that means anything, but I might be careful "Boeing IT might know something we don't"... maybe we can ask Paul Kahle (he works for Boeing IT).
It's blocked because "freewebs.com" is in the URL. Many freebie or nearly free web hosting services often wind up having unscrupulous persons throwing up sites to perpetrate their spamming, etc. That's not to say that there aren't lots of legit people who use such hosting services. But big companies like Boeing tend to by hyper-cautious about their firewalling, and just block em to be safe.
I want to build a cabin like the shed roof one in the picture, GT. Is that yours? It looks just perfect to me! Like I could actually build it!Any info you have on it would be appreciated. I plan on taking the LHBA course as soon as I can afford it. DH and I bought a small piece of land in Montana and I can just picture building on it. We are in California for now, though..Jan
well one of these days I'll figure out how to shrink a picture so I can put it there...
I love that lil lean-to logcabin too!
I do not think GT built it but I am sure he will chime in soon with a reply. He is one of the great "info-guys" here at LHBA.
As far as the class goes? You may never "be able to afford it"..but I can only urge you to find a way and take the class ASAP. Even if you have to sell pencils on the street or have a garage sale or sell your "toys". (umm but don't sell your DH. hee)...btw whats DH stand for ? Dearest Honeypoo?
Montana is great country. When I moved from western NY, I decided on Colorado but Montana was my second choice. Lots of freedom-lovers, rebels and outlaws up there too...and where men are men and sheep are scared! :) jk!

Our land is in north west Montana, in a little town that used to go by Wild Horse Plains, I guess when the post office put in a branch, they said that was too long a name and it was shortened to Plains. Right now at the cost of gas it would be over $500- round trip to get there and back! Just for the gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooo, I do not think I will get to go there this year unless I can find a way to make some $$$ and fast! Original plan was to back for a few weeks or a month each year and slowly build while enjoying it there... it is going to take a while unless God intervenes for me. Although when it is snowy and cold there, here in the sunshine doesn't look too bad, we just cannot retire here for the cost of living.
Living in California, dreaming of Montana...

This is not my cabin. But some day I will build a cabin like this for practicing and living in it while building a real home. It is very simple and affordable. I am in process of collecting of infotmation for my future home, and if I find some info I am glad to share it on this forum. I hope, at least some info is useful ... (here my special thanks to Kola for complements ! : ) Right now I have allmost all tools to build a home, and know how to build it in details, but have no land. I do not buy land yet because real estate prices are rapidly faling down. I am just waiting for the right time to buy it. After I started building a model, I found very soon, that without land it makes not very much sence, because everything about your home depends on location, site elevation, house pozitioning, local zoning regulations and many other little things like personal relations with naighbors and local officials... I will definitely finish my first model - it already changed my mind how to build my real home, and saved me a lot of money in future building ! After I buy land I will build onother one, "bound" to the land, my needs and wishes. Even my bed back injury does not prevent me of dreaming acting and moving forward to my debt free dream home !
