Found this today while checking out tools and what not for future reference... and thought this might come in handy to those that are starting to collect for their build.

Thanks Vern, in some of your pictures I saw the snatch block and I was going to ask just how you were using them. If you could take some close up pictures of your setup I would greatly appreciate it. Keep up the good work, be safe and take lots of pictures.

I have four of these units and use them on my lifting poles. I use a snatch block at the top and anchor the winches on a vehicle which I move around as needed. Seriousvol is correct - they are not designed for continous duty however I have found that picking up one end of a log you can raise a log up several feet without them overheating - also, remember the warranty. If they fail, just get them exchanged - you can buy the extended warranty for a few dollars and they give you a cross the counter exchange. I haven't needed to do this as mine have performed flawlessly. You have plenty of time to let them cool between logs - i.e., drilling and rebarring the previous log. I also raised my RPSL's with these and preparing to raise the ridge pole as well. Will let you know how it goes.
I tested the units first by picking up the largest, knurlylest, and longest log I had with only one unit. Nothing broke so figured they should be safe on one end of a log. However, I don't ever get in the position below them that could endanger you if the cable or something broke. I did have one of the cables pull out of the spool when the cable was completely unwound so I recommend you leave a few wraps on the spool.

these are not made for continious duty, they have to have a cool down time after every few minutes of use, skidding logs you will burn them up,or take forever.
