I would like to begin looking for and collecting the tools I will need to build my log home. Can anyone suggest a list of the required basic tools and some "nice to have" tools to help me?

They give a complete list in class.
but I'll bet you can guess what you'll need:
chainsaw
hammer
Big hammer
power drill (I suppose you could use a brace/bit)
and some specialty tools depending on how you are going to lift the logs/peel the logs.
Take the class, you'll learn more than you could imagine.
