Read this book several years ago. From what I remember it mostly
pertained to the Entiat, an area about 18 miles north of my present
home. The book covers the years 1849 - 1890 (I think...).
Very insightful on how to live off the land, what people did to survive,
and how they stored foods and provisions.

A friend of mine had grandparents who homesteaded in the Entiat.
They worked long days just to survive.
Anyone wanting to homestead, or as Pa Kettle said; "Carve it from
the wilderness" might do well to read this book. It's interesting and helpful.
