These five facts might be very important to you:
1. THIS TWO-DAY SEMINAR IS COMPLETE IN ONE WEEK-END (11 HOURS ON SATURDAY, AND 11 HOURS ON SUNDAY).
2. IT IS DESIGNED FOR MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE NO CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE -- AND WHO WANT TO BUILD (and/or learn how to "purchase") AN INEXPENSIVE LOG HOME, SUMMER CABIN, GUEST HOUSE, SKI CABIN, SAUNA, BARN, COMMERCIAL BUILDING, RENTAL UNIT, ETC.
3. A LOG HOME CAN COST LESS THAN A TRAILER HOUSE.
4. THIS IS THE ONLY LOG HOME BUILDING CLASS WE KNOW OF THAT OFFERS A THREE MONTH MONEY BACK GUARANTEE (see details below).
5. For current information about when the next class is available, please visit our home page.
The following paragraphs will explain a few things about this two-day seminar -- what you can expect -- what you will learn, etc.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IT'S ABOUT -- THE PROCESS -- ETC.
The seminar in America is taught by Skip or one of our other instructors at Skip's ranch and school near Seattle, Washington. Skip is retired now and is rarely available to teach seminars in America at this time.
The seminar in Southeast Asia is taught by Skip at his beach-front home on a beautiful, tropical island in the Philippines.
This program is designed for men (49% of the students are men), women (40% of the students are women) and children (11% of the students are children) who have no experience with tools -- and who have absolutely no construction experience.
It is also designed for people who have previously built log homes -- and now want to learn how to do it correctly.
In two days, students learn each step of the "correct" construction process.
They learn how to do each job using simple hand-tools that can easily fit into the trunk of a car.
No heavy equipment is necessary.
Skip does a comparative analysis of "kit" log homes and "real" log homes.
He teaches short cuts and tricks of the trade.
A large part of the "instruction" takes place inside (out of the weather) -- using drawings, diagrams, photos, videos, an overhead projector, actual examples, scale models of log homes, various other teaching aids, etc.
The instruction is non-physical, and is suitable for old folks, young folks, city folks, etc.
Based upon many years of teaching experience (involving feed-back from students, colleges, and universities) the seminar is organized in such a way that all of the material can easily be learned in two days.
In my opinion, the techniques taught in this seminar have been shown to be completely "fool-proof."
[See the "Testimonial Page" for details.]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE TEACH THREE STYLES OF CONSTRUCTION AT OUR SEMINARS;
1. THE SADDLE-NOTCH METHOD
2. THE SCANDINAVIAN CHINKLESS METHOD (and the related Canadian Chinkless Method)
3. THE BUTT-AND-PASS METHOD
Many of our students build their first two or three log homes using the butt-and-pass method -- because it is stronger than the other types, easier to build, and lasts longer.
In other words, the butt-and-pass method solves the "problem" in the most effective and expeditious manner.
The butt-and-pass method has the potential of setting people "free" faster.
PS -- Please don't give up on your dream of owning a log home. Don't let the "dream killers" (mom, dad, they guy next door, the people you work with, etc.) talk you out of it. You really CAN do it -- if you just get off of your ass and make it happen.
It has worked for many, many thousands of people -- and it can work for you, too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT THE FOLLOWING:
People who attend this seminar are taught everything that is necessary to build a log house from "scratch," such as; site selection -- log selection -- using their own trees -- buying logs from loggers -- skidding logs through the woods -- transporting logs by truck and/or by rail -- caring for logs -- peeling logs -- seasoning logs -- shrinkage of logs -- preserving logs -- site selection -- pouring concrete foundations -- erecting log walls -- installing floor joists (first, second, and third floors) -- insulating floors -- laying floor surfaces -- building window frames, -- building door frames -- building doors -- setting purlins -- raising rafters -- insulating the roof -- application of roof surfaces -- heating the house -- placement of electrical wires -- placement of plumbing -- various construction methods (Scandinavian Chinkless method, saddle-notch method, dovetail method -- various chinking methods, etc.) -- building codes -- dealing with government officials and inspectors -- borrowing money from banks (which is not recommended) -- business tricks -- etc.
Skip's students are also taught (and thereby warned about) the most common "mistakes" that are made by various "kit" log home companies -- and what to watch out for if you plan on buying (instead of building) a log home.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PIONEERING TECHNIQUES
(FOR THE LEAST EXPENSIVE LOG HOME)
In addition to learning how to build extremely beautiful and valuable log homes (that meet and/or exceed building codes) students are also taught how to use "pioneering techniques" to build extremely good log homes for well under $5,000. People are sometimes surprised by the fact that many beautiful log houses are still being built using inexpensive "pioneering" techniques that were perfected by early settlers. This is especially true when when people use trees from their own land, in conjunction with the other pioneering techniques.
[At this time it is possible to use "pioneering techniques" only if one is building where there is still FREEDOM -- from building codes -- from so-called "administrative law" -- from unconstitutional statutory laws -- and from unconstitutional government interference in your daily life.]
[Of course, in these isolated areas there is usually no ELECTRICAL COMPANY -- which means that people generate their own electricity by using solar collectors, windmills, portable generators, etc. For "back-up" they also use gas-lamps, gas-refrigerators, etc. Also, in these isolated areas, water is usually obtained from a shallow-well hand-pump with an auxiliary electric motor (it is reported that until 1940 more than half of the "rural" houses in America obtained water in this fashion - in a way that is cleaner, free of chemicals, and more "fool-proof" than the modern municipal water systems.]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A BEAUTIFUL LOG HOME -- THAT HAS ALL OF THE MODERN CONVENIENCES
Obviously, it is not necessary to use "all" of the above-mentioned pioneering techniques when you build your own home -- and it is not necessary that your home be "rustic."
To the contrary, most people build log homes that have almost every amenity (such as Skip's log home), and they build these homes quite inexpensively -- often without borrowing money from a bank.
IMPORTANT: The actual cost of your own log home will depend upon many factors -- many of which are discussed on this website -- and many more of which are discussed in the seminar.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several of the Association's officers (myself included) visited one of Skip's students who built a beautiful 1,400 sq. ft. log home for under $8,000. (eight, not eighty), including electricity and plumbing. We also visited another student who purchased enough logs for a large house for under $1,000. (from a source that is discussed in the seminar).
This simple log home was built near Skip's ranch in Duvall by two young women who graduated from his seminar. The photo is not "representative" of anything -- but someone suggested that this page should include a photo, so we just picked one at random. Perhaps we should have picked a photo that shows less "roof" and more "house." At the time this photo was taken, the cabin had been finished about 16 years and we were told that it was about to be sold by its original owners for approximately 20 times its construction price.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUESTIONS:
HOW MUCH DOES A LOG HOME COST ?
HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD ONE ?
ANSWERS:
In The Log House Builders Journal there was an article about a husband-wife team who took Skip's class and used their new knowledge to build the shell of their house (1,400 sq. ft.) working only nine Saturdays, four Sundays, and one or two hours each evening for nine weeks. The builder is quoted as saying, "We're living in our new house now, and we're very happy with it. We did everything the way Skip taught us and it all worked out perfectly. We even sent three friends to Skip's class."
In the next paragraph, the builder is quoted as saying, "The house is almost finished and we are just about ready for our final inspection. The house cost us a total of $10,000. However, $2,500. of that money was spent getting power lines put in. Technically we have only spent about $7,500. on the house itself."
IMPORTANT:
The cost of your own log home will be determined by many factors - including the FOLLOWING:
The specific "unconstitutional" building codes that are being forced upon you by your government -- the size of your home -- the type of foundation -- the type of roof insulation -- the type of roofing material -- the type of logs you are using -- the cost of your logs (if you must purchase them) -- the distance you must haul your logs -- the number of rooms in your home (because this effects the number of walls, doors, windows, etc.) -- the number of bathrooms -- the number of fireplaces -- the cost of your wall-to-wall carpets (if any) -- the cost of your water-well -- etc.
Frankly, most people are not capable of asking a "complete" question about the cost of a log home, because they don't know enough about the various factors that must be considered - and they don't know enough about the various money-saving options that are available to them.
Many of these facts and options will be discussed in the seminar.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT:
Skip once said to me, "My seminar isn't really about log homes. It's about 'freedom.' I show people how they can use log homes as a way to achieve more economic freedom, social freedom, and personal freedom."
I know that Skip is right about this, because I attended his seminar 12 years ago and he gave me the knowledge and inspiration that I needed to become a very successful "professional" log home builder. I am currently experiencing more freedom than I ever thought would be possible in my own life.
Skip's two-day course has made it possible for many thousands of people (from every socio-economic background) to build beautiful and inexpensive log homes. Based upon my own experience, I believe that this seminar can enable YOU to turn YOUR log home "dream" into a reality.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YET ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT:
It generally takes much less work to build your own log home than it takes to pay off a thirty year mortgage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STILL ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT:
We strongly recommend that you read some of the "TESTIMONIALS" that are listed on the 'TESTIMONIALS" page of this website. These testimonials will open your eyes to the socio-economic potential of log homes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
Please call Skip if you have any questions about log homes. He is a very nice guy (polite and helpful), and he will be glad to answer your "log home" questions free of charge by phone. He often spends MANY hours per day answering questions for people who call from all over the world.
On the other hand, if you are really serious about building a log home (or buying a "kit" log home) then you should definitely attend this 22-hour seminar -- which is complete in one week-end.
It is a good idea to learn how to build a log home BEFORE you are in the position of actually needing one -- so you will know what your options are, and so you will be able to make intelligent decisions and plans.
The "one-time" cost of membership in our organization (including tuition for the seminar in America) is posted on our home page.
The "one-time" cost of membership if you wish to attend the seminar in the Philippines is $1000 per person.
Our last airline tickets, round trip from Seattle to the beautiful tropical island where the seminar is held, cost $680 U.S. Students and/or friends that visit Skip generally "camp out" among the coconut trees on the beach -- eat with Skip and his family -- etc.
For more information on this possibility, please refer to the page called "SEMINARS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE WAITING LIST:
There is often a long waiting list to get into the classes that are taught in America. On the other hand (because of occasional cancellations due to illnesses, deaths, job transfers, divorces, etc.) , it is sometimes possible to get into the class on short notice.
The amount of time it takes to get into the seminar will partly be determined by where Skip is located at the time (at his home in the Washington -- or at his second home in Southeast Asia).
Recently he did not return from Asia for a period of approximately five years, and there were no classes at all during that time.
However, he is now teaching again occasionally -- both in America, and at his beach-front home on a beautiful tropical island in Southeast Asia.
We recommend that you print a "hard-copy" of the Application immediately so at least you will have one in your file.
This might be your "last clear chance" to learn how to build and/or buy log homes from Skip Ellsworth, who is virtually considered to be the foremost authority in the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE APPLICATION:
An APPLICATION can be copied from this website -- OR YOU CAN SEND US A MESSAGE VIA E-MAIL.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A FREE E-MAIL HOT-LINE REGARDING LOG HOME QUESTIONS:
Please remember that one of our volunteers will be glad to answer your SPECIFIC log home building questions (free of charge) by e-mail. As you can probably imagine, the average person doesn't know enough about log homes to even know what questions to ask. However, our volunteers are always glad to at least TRY to deal with people's questions, because by doing this they get to help a lot of nice people from all over the world.
